The NSW Sector Capacity Building Program is a training and support program for preschools delivered by a range of Early Childhood Intervention and other qualified providers across NSW as part of the NSW Department of Education funded Preschool Disability and Inclusion Program.

Sector Capacity Building is available to all NSW community preschools and the support and training provided reflects each preschool’s circumstances and needs but will focus upon:

  • Increasing preschools’ capacity to include children with disability and additional needs on the same basis as their peers
  • Enable equitable education outcomes for children with disability and additional needs consistent with the Early Years Learning Framework
  • Supporting preschool educators to understand the National Disability Insurance Scheme as it relates to the delivery of supports for children through the Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) approach within an educational setting.

KU Children’s Services is providing this support to preschools in the Sydney Inner West district, Penrith district and Wollongong district regions. Support is provided by Preschool Inclusion Consultants who are qualified early childhood teachers with experience in including children with additional needs.

Support includes:

  • Telephone and online support
  • Preschool visits
  • Networking meetings
  • Professional learning relating to inclusive practice
