Now offering integrated long day care and free sessional kinder, together in one trusted KU service.
KU Craigieburn goes beyond childcare. We create a safe and nurturing environment where childhood is celebrated.
We are proud of our strong reputation of providing rich education and care tailored to each child’s needs in a family-focussed and supportive way.
Our highly experienced and dedicated teachers and educators build strong, trusting relationships with each child, fostering a sense of belonging and confidence.
KU Craigieburn was a finalist at the prestigious HESTA ECEC Awards in 2023, where we were recognised as an ‘Outstanding Service’ for our dedication to embracing cultural diversity, fostering inclusion and a sense of belonging in children.
When children play and explore, their imagination and curiosity are sparked – they enjoy learning and are inspired to continue learning more.
Our play-based program intentionally provides a wide range of engaging opportunities and activities based on the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework.
We have a special interest in incorporating home languages and embracing cultural diversity in our program, enhancing children’s sense of belonging and identity and representing our true cultural context.

KU Craigieburn has been independently assessed by the Victorian Department of Education, and are proud to be rated as Exceeding the National Quality Standard.
We believe that the positive interactions children have with our staff are the most important component of our high quality program. Our team of teachers and educators are qualified, experienced, caring and motivated.
Our staff undergo continuous professional development, staying at the forefront of early childhood education.

Roop Mala is a qualified Early Childhood Teacher with over 15 years of experience in the early childhood education sector. She holds a Bachelor of Education and a Master’s degree in Inclusive Education, equipping her to support children experiencing trauma, vulnerability, and neurodiversity.
Roop has served as a sessional lecturer for Bachelor of Teaching students and as an Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapist, contributing to both academic and community settings.
Her approach to teaching is grounded in relational and differentiated practices, which means that she emphasises strong, meaningful relationships and responsive, individualised teaching that supports the diverse needs, abilities, and learning styles of all children.
This service now offers both long day care and free sessional kindergarten through an integrated model.
Children can access both long day care and 15 hours per week of Victorian Government-funded Free Kinder, all within the one service. This means a consistent, stable environment for your child, while keeping the same trusted KU staff, programs and community.
Families also have the flexibility of extending sessional kinder days in the morning and/or afternoon, as well as the option to enrol for shorter long day care days at a reduced daily fee. During kinder closedown periods, families can extend their kinder bookings by booking into additional full days of care (using their CCS entitlements) to maintain consistent care during term breaks.

This is the full daily fee. If you are entitled to the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), this will reduce the daily fee you are charged for long day care sessions and for any extended hours for kinder sessions.
Speak with the service Director for more information regarding your child’s enrolment needs.
Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is the main payment to assist families with the cost of childcare. It is paid directly to the childcare provider and passed onto families as a fee reduction where families meet the eligibility criteria.
The level of subsidy you receive, and the number of hours you will be subsidised, depend on your individual family circumstances.
To claim any subsidy you may be eligible for, you will need a MyGov account linked to Centrelink.
When attending a sessional kinder group at this service, your child will have access to 15 hours per week of Free Kinder through the Victorian Government’s Best Start, Best Life reforms.
Free Kinder funding is for children who are 3 and 4 years old in the two years before attending formal schooling and can only be accessed in one service. This could either be in a sessional kindergarten or long day care service.
Please note when attending either long day care or sessional kinder at this service, families can only opt in to one form of fee relief for the same hours – either CCS or Free Kinder.
To be eligible for Free Kinder funding, the Victorian Department of Education and Training requires parents to sign the ‘Fee Relief Declaration and Consent’ form at the time of enrolment.
