KU James Cahill Preschool has celebrated the 125th anniversary of KU Children’s Services.

The theme of the celebration was ‘making a difference through 125 years of social impact and early education’ and the preschool recognised this special milestone by collecting 125 cans of food which will be donated to the local OzHarvest market in Waterloo.

“Our aim is to support our local community through connecting with OzHarvest. In response to the rising need for food relief across Sydney and thanks to funding from the City of Sydney, the OzHarvest Market Waterloo opened in July 2020. They have a “take what you need, give if you can” philosophy. We are connecting this initiative to our ‘Acknowledgement of Country’, and our promise to look after the land, animals and people.” said KU James Cahill Director, Amanda Ronayne.

“This initiative will offer us wonderful opportunities to begin to explore social justice issues with the children, and for them to develop their understanding and empathy towards people in need,” said Amanda.

“As a team, we are happy to be celebrating 125 years of KU. We are proud to work for an organisation which advocates for the rights and wellbeing of children, families and the community and has a commitment to providing quality early childhood education and care.”
