The award recognises KU as a leading workplace that has maximised the full potential of their workforce through practices that demonstrate effective employee recruitment, engagement and retention.

After becoming the first early education provider to ever win the award five years ago, and with over 2,000 employees across 140 services, KU has established itself as one of the leading employers in early childhood education in Australia.

“KU is delighted to have been named as an Employer of Choice at The Australian Business Awards for five years in a row. As a sector leader with 125 years of experience in early education, we have long recognised our employees as key to our ongoing success,” said CEO of KU Children’s Services, Ms Christine Legg.

“Together, we are driven by the ardent pursuit of quality early education for children and encourage others to join us as we work to ensure that every child can experience high quality early childhood education in a place where they feel a sense of belonging, and where they can discover their sense of self, learn to respect others and find their voice,” said Ms Legg.

Entrant organisations were required to demonstrate their achievements across the key areas of Organisational Culture; Leadership and Strategy; Employee Education, Training and Development; Employee Health, Safety and Satisfaction; Performance Management; and Recognition and Remuneration.

Entries were then assessed through a rigorous and dynamic framework consisting of specialised assessment criteria and sub-criteria, enabling the participating organisations to be benchmarked against world class performance standards.

The key attributes of the ‘Employer of Choice Framework’ define the characteristics of high-performing, industry leading organisations that provide a stimulating and supportive workplace.
