On Thursday, 11 December, MP Tim James, Member for Willoughby visited KU Chatswood Community Preschool with past and present staff and families, for the service farewell celebration after more than 44 years of operation.

Guests were moved by heartfelt speeches from Kathryn Hatcher, present day Director of the service, Jason, a proud preschool parent, and Caitlin, a former student who shared cherished memories of their time at the service.

“Today we celebrate all that KU Chatswood Community Preschool has meant to so many children, families and team members over the years. As we prepare to say farewell due to the regrettable non-renewal of the lease, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all our staff and supporting teams for their dedication and commitment over the years. For over 44 years, we have been proud to deliver high-quality programs that have shaped a vibrant and caring community. I also extend my deepest gratitude to the children and families, past and present for your partnership. You have all made this preschool a special place that will be honoured and remembered for many years to come,” said Christine Legg.

Christine Legg, KU Children’s Services CEO and MP Tim James both spoke highly of the preschool and all it has meant to so many children, families and team members over the years.

In 1945, East Chatswood Nursery Kindergarten was opened, later moving to its present-day location Victor Street, near the heart of Chatswood’s CBD. Over its 44 years of operations, KU Chatswood Community has been recognised and awarded as an outstanding service provider. The service is highly regarded by local families for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and spacious, natural indoor and outdoor play areas.
