KU Goulburn Preschool has celebrated its 1st anniversary of providing high quality early childhood education and care as part of KU Children’s Services.

The preschool, formerly known as ‘Goulburn Pre-school’, was established in 1991 and was previously operated by a volunteer Management Committee, before management of the preschool was transferred to KU in January this year.

The preschool celebrated the special occasion by holding a community event attended by children, families and staff from the preschool, as well as Dharug woman Annette (Muffy) Hedges, KU Children’s Services CEO Christine Legg, and Ken Wheeldon and Sandy Wagus from Goulburn Mulwaree Council.

"KU Goulburn Preschool’s one-year celebration marks not just a milestone, but a testament to our unwavering commitment to fostering an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child's potential is valued and supported," said KU Children’s Services CEO Christine Legg.

The celebrations included an Acknowledgement of Country by Muffy Hedges, followed by speeches acknowledging the preschool and its community, and concluded with an afternoon tea.

Ann-Maree Fisher, Director of KU Goulburn, expressed the heartfelt journey and warm reception experienced in becoming a part of the KU family.

“Our journey officially began with KU on 9 January this year, however there was a great deal of time, conversation and work put in over the 12 months prior to this date,” said Ann-Maree.

“From our very first point of contact, there was a sense of welcome and enthusiasm about our preschool community becoming KU Goulburn Preschool.”

“KU reflected our preschool’s philosophy, an ongoing commitment to high quality early childhood education and care, and the best outcomes for children.”

“Most importantly, KU have continued to ensure the preschool reflects our own local community, retaining our individuality and community connections.”

“We’ve celebrated our first year as KU Goulburn and we look forward to many more celebrations in the coming years,” said Ann-Maree.
