KU Figtree Preschool has celebrated their official opening in March.

The special event was attended by children, families and staff from the preschool, as well as KU Children’s Services CEO, Christine Legg, with the celebrations including speeches, food, drinks and tours of the preschool.

“It was wonderful to celebrate the official opening with so many of our families, together with KU staff. We are proud to be part of the KU family and are looking forward to continuing to provide high quality childcare for local families,” said KU Figtree Co-Directors, Elen Santarelli and Cheryl Collinson-Smith.

There were fears that the preschool, formerly known as St Columba Uniting Church Preschool, would close its doors for good when plans to sell the site were announced last year.

However, in November last year, KU Children’s Services announced their purchase of the property along with the preschool located onsite, securing the future of the service.

“KU has been operating preschools in the Illawarra for more than 50 years and we are so pleased to be welcoming all the wonderful staff and families at St Columba Uniting Church Preschool into the KU family,” said KU Children’s Services CEO, Christine Legg.

KU Figtree is now the fifth preschool operated by KU in the Illawarra region after KU Bulli Preschool, KU Corrimal East Preschool, KU Gwynneville Preschool and KU Wombarra Preschool.

KU Figtree provides quality early childhood education for children aged 3 - 5 years and is currently taking enrolments. For more information, contact the preschool directly on 4229 9472.
