To celebrate KU's 125 year milestone, the children and educators at KU Kookaburra decided to collect items for the patients at Wagga Base hospital.

“We discussed the need at group times with our preschoolers. The children thought the people in hospital might get bored while they are resting and that books, puzzles and games would be a thoughtful solution to this problem,” said preschool Director, Kerrie Harris.

“Together we made a giant 125 poster with 125 areas to colour in. The plan was to colour in each area as the items were brought in. We sent a note out to families and the response was overwhelming. The children arrived each morning, excited to colour in the little squares. They kept a close eye on how close we were getting to our target and were super excited when we reached 125 items!”

“It has been delightful to witness the conversations amongst the children as they chat together about our project. Seeing the happy hospital staff and patients was something that made the KU Kookaburra children very proud.”
