On Sunday 21 October 2012, KU South Turramurra Preschool celebrated their 50th birthday.

The festivities commenced at 10am, with balloons and face painting and lots of VERY excited three year olds!

Inside the preschool, ex-pupils perused the walls to find photographs of themselves and their classmates of years gone-by. They also joined in typical preschool activities; playing in the sandpit, making pasta shell necklaces, creating dinosaurs from play-dough, decorating biscuits and a colouring competition.

No one went hungry, with a sausage sizzle and cup-cakes for sale throughout the day.

The formalities were introduced by the preschool’s President of the Parent Committee, Victoria Brown and included brief speeches from the current director, Laurelle Knight, and the CEO of KU, Christine Legg. The Ku-ring-gai Council Mayor, Elaine Maliki, whose children attended the preschool, dropped in for an informal visit on her morning walk, and former director of 18 years, Helen Knight, was also in attendance.

“The birthday celebration was an opportunity for KU South Turramurra to involve the local community and a chance for children, families and community members to enjoy the entertainment and a great atmosphere,” says Director, Laurelle Knight.

Two bands from Turramurra Primary School entertained the crowds at 11am and 1pm, with the event wrapping up at 2pm. A great day was had by all.
