Our Program and Approach
At North Sydney Vacation Care – North Sydney Community Centre, we are committed to providing the highest quality care to ensure all school aged children feel valued, supported and respected, within a child-centred environment. Our educators are informed and engaged with the needs and interests of children and we seek to develop positive relationships between staff, families and management.
Our program comprises a combination of both centre based activities and excursions, with our program for each vacation care period developed in consultation with children, families and staff. We recognise that we provide a holiday program and, as a result, we emphasise the recreational aspects of our program, while also providing educational opportunities for children.
Centre based days provide children with opportunities to engage in a range of experiences, allowing children to learn new skills or refine current skills in areas such as the arts, sports, science, maths and literacy. Excursion days may involve a wide range of activities including sports at the local park, bowling, movies, bushwalking and stage shows.
Our centre has been independently assessed by the NSW Department of Education under the National Quality Standards, and are proud to be rated as Exceeding the National Quality Standard.
Each KU centre is unique. The best outcomes for children are created within relationships and interactions between children and staff, and children and their families, not within four walls. We work hard to create beautiful, interesting, homelike learning environments for children – whatever our setting.
