KU Randwick Coogee Celebrates 50 Years

22 July 2009

On Saturday 2 May, KU Randwick Coogee Preschool celebrated 50 years of providing quality early childhood education and care in their local community.

The preschool staff and families organised a range of activities to celebrate the occasion, including a musical performance by the current children and staff from the centre, a sausage sizzle and open day for the families, and a beautiful KU cake.

Randwick Council Deputy Mayor, Councillor Margaret Woodsmith, and KU CEO Sheridan Dudley attended the event and spoke about the special role that KU Randwick Coogee plays in supporting children and families within the local Randwick and Coogee communities.

A highlight of the day was the display of historic photos and memorabilia for the preschool’s half century of operating. The display provided a reminder of the many changes that have occurred at KU Randwick Coogee over the years, and gave a great insight into the way the preschool used to be.

Past Directors of the preschool were also invited to attend the function, and every Director since 1980 was able to come along. Many people commented on the 50 years being a fantastic achievement for KU Randwick Coogee, and a great day was had by everyone.
