ELLI Funding Extended
20 July 2009
The KU Early Language and Literacy Initiative (ELLI) has received extended funding from the Federal Government.
The program, an initiative designed to help enhance the language development of children seen to be educationally at-risk, will be extended for an additional two years, enabling the program to transition into a model that is more in line with the principles outlined by FaHCSIA (Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs) in the discussion paper on their proposed Family Support Program.
During this transitional phase, the KU ELLI Program staff will continue to work closely with the KU centres who have indicated an interest in participating in The Language and Literacy Special Interest Group (L&LSIG), and will disseminate information about the KU ELLI model that has evolved from the work they have done on the project so far.
The ELLI Project staff will also continue to collaborate with KU staff to further enhance the language and literacy programs that are provided throughout KU centres.
