Celebrating Diversity at KU Wonnayba Child Care Centre

16 June 2010

The experiences planned celebrated the diversity present within the centre and the valuable contribution that families make to the program. It was also a way to introduce new families to each other and help them share their family background with the children.

There were a variety of experiences for the families and the children during the week. The African drumming was a highlight with one of the parents sharing her African culture with the children and involving them in traditional dancing, singing, games and dressing up. Another family shared their knowledge of Europen culture with the children exploring the world globe and locating parts of Europe.

The family picnic day included a sausage sizzle, face painting and planting of the new vegetable garden. It was a great opportunity for the parents to meet each other and spend some time with their children at the centre.
