A warm welcome to KU Concord Children’s Centre staff, families and children!
Concord Children's Centre is the latest centre to join KU following a transition process that took some months. A cast of thousands have
been involved in the process such as
representatives at a centre level, committee,
local council, DoCS, FaCSIA and from KU
Central Office. The various parties assisted
and worked together to meet the legislative
requirements and to support the service
through this transition process and KU would
like to thank all who were involved.
Lauren Allen, the President of the Concord
Family and Child Care
Co-operative Limited
said in her hand over speech to KU that:
“Despite all the benefits of being a
community based centre governed by
a Board of parents, there are also many
disadvantages. With KU as the licencee of
the centre, we get to keep all the benefits
of being a community based not-for profit
childcare centre, without risk and personal
liabilities that the parent led Board faced. “
This is regularly identified by parent committees who manage
stand alone community-based services as a risk and is one of the
very positive aspects of transferring to KU.

A new KU Long Day Care Centre in Lindfield
KU Bradfield Park Preschool and Child Care Centre is a 53 place long day care centre located in West Lindfield which joined KU Children’s Services on the 7th of January 2008. We would like to welcome all the staff transferring with the service to KU and new staff who have started since the date of transfer and the of course the families and children.
KU is very proud and excited that Bradfield park has chosen to become part of KU and we thank everyone who has worked hard to make the transition so smooth including the parents, staff and Ku-ring-gai Council. We look forward to working with staff and parents to develop a plan for the future, including upgrades and improvements, so these can be fed into both our quality improvement plans and our property plans.
