Two words synonymous with KU Children’s Services are progressive and dynamic and we have never stopped being either in our long and impressive history as an early childhood provider.

Established in 1895 as the Kindergarten Union of New South Wales, we are Australia's oldest and most reputable child care provider. We established Australia's first early childhood teacher training college in the early 1900s and have continued to build an enviable reputation for providing high quality early childhood services that meet the ever-changing needs of individuals, families and the community.

We have never looked back and today KU employs more than 1000 early childhood specialists who work in 145 early childhood centres throughout Australia, enriching children’s lives. At present we provide programs for 10,000 families and 8,000 children in Australia.

As a not-for-profit organisation KU makes no profit from fees. (Our fees include day-to-day running costs associated with the provision of the best possible care and education for children.) Any surplus is re-invested straight back into our services, facilities and staff, allowing us to put children first by investing where early childhood needs are greatest.

Our parents become members of KU and have a voice at our regular Council meetings and our Annual General Meeting. This year we held our 112th AGM - see our 112th Annual Report.
