KU Early Language and Literacy Initiative (ELLI)
KU Children’s Services (KU) in New South Wales received $497,000 to be utilised over
4 years from the Australian Government’s Stronger Families and Communities Invest to Grow Strategy for its Early Language and Literacy Initiative (ELLI).
KU ELLI is being developed based on the existing research into early language and literacy development and will be implemented and evaluated in two
KU preschools in South-Western Sydney.
KU ELLI is being offered in an area of Sydney where schools are particularly concerned about the literacy levels of children entering school. It is also an area where a significant number of children have been identified as having speech and language delays/disorders/disabilities.
It is anticipated that each year of the project approximately 70 children and members of their families will benefit from their participation in KU ELLI.
